Tired of the same old T-shirts in stores? It's time to create your own design. Decorating T-shirts by hand is not only a great way to show off your individuality but also a fun activity.
Any plain T-shirt in good condition will work for painting.
Ready to give it a try? Let's get started!
Painting on a T-shirt with Paints
Special acrylic paints are used for painting on clothing; they adhere well to the fabric and do not bleed. It's simple and fun. Here are the steps to help you begin:
1. Take the T-shirt and insert a cardboard or plastic backing to prevent the paint from seeping through to the other side.
2. Sketch your design on the T-shirt with a pencil or use stencils. This will help you visualize the final result accurately.
3. By the way, using stencils is a great hack to simplify the painting process. Start applying acrylic paints to large areas and then move on to smaller details.
4. Let the T-shirt dry, typically complete drying and paint fixation takes 48 hours.
5. To make the paint adhere better to the fabric, iron it for 3-5 minutes.
That's it, now you have a T-shirt with your own design!

Drawing on a T-shirt with Markers
Markers are best for drawing various outline designs because they are easier to work with. You don’t need to be a professional artist to create beautiful and clear lines. Even if you are a beginner at drawing, you can easily master this technique.
Before drawing, choose a design and practice on regular paper. When you are fully confident in your abilities, it's time to start working. The principle is the same as when painting with acrylic paints:
1. Place cardboard or thick paper inside the T-shirt.
2. Draw your design.
3. Let the T-shirt dry for 24 hours.
4. Iron the drawing through a cloth at medium temperature for 3-5 minutes.
Markers are an economical and convenient tool. They can last a long time, allowing you to complete many projects.

Tie-Dye Decoration
Tie-dye is a fabric dyeing technique where patterns are created by tying, twisting, folding, or scrunching the fabric before dyeing.
Each item created with this technique is unique, as it's impossible to replicate the same pattern twice. Bright, saturated colors are used to create interesting effects, and it's best to use a white T-shirt.
Before starting, tie the fabric with rubber bands or string according to the chosen technique. Here are a few popular techniques:
- Spiral: Twist the fabric into a spiral, starting from the center, and secure with rubber bands.
- Stripes: Fold the fabric accordion-style and tie with rubber bands at even intervals.
- Spots: Make random knots and tie them with rubber bands.
Apply the dye to the fabric in a random order, pouring it from bottles or bowls. Wrap the T-shirt in a bag or plastic wrap and leave it to dry completely. Rinse it in cold water and let it dry. Now you have an original summer T-shirt!
