FREE AMIGURUMI PATTERN - Cute crochet little hedgehog

It is an amigurumi pattern for a cute little Hedgehog toy! You'll love the easy way to crochet this toy. This crochet amigurumi Hedgehog is easy to make even for beginners!

Materials:

  • Any 5-Bulky (Chunky) weight chenille yarn I used YarnArt «Dolce» 3.5 oz / 131 yds:
    #745 milky;
  • Any 2-Fine (Sport) weight cotton blend yarn I used YarnArt «Jeans» 1.75 oz / 175 yds:
    #01 white,
    #76 light-turquoise;
  • Any Fluffy yarn. I used YarnArt «Mink» 1.75 oz / 82 yds:
    #347 pink;
  • Black embroidery floss
  • 2.00 and 4.00 mm crochet hooks
  • Filler – hollowfiber
  • 8 mm black safety eyes
  • 7x9 mm triangle black nose
  • Dry pastel or blush
  • Apple-button for decoration
  • Blunt sewing needle, scissors, pins, stitch markers

Symbols:

  • MR – magic ring

 

  • CH – chain stitch

 

  • SC – single crochet

 

  • INC – increase

  • DEC – decrease

 

  • SS – slip stitch

  3. 3.– front loop (flo)

 

(x) – number in brackets means number of stitches in the row
*…* x times – repeat pattern in the asterisks x number of times

Please, PAY ATTENTION

This pattern doesn’t contain any crochet lessons. To work with it you should have to know how to work with basic crochet techniques. Yarn amount for project, the way it’s look and the size of toy depends on you gauge, which is unique for each one.

HEAD AND BODY

The head and the body are crochet in continuous rounds / spirals.

To crochet the head and the body take 5-Chunky (Bulky) weight chenille yarn (milky color) and 4.00 mm crochet hook

Row 1 - 8 sc in mr

Row 2 - Back loop only: 8 inc (16)

Row 3 - Back loop only: *1 sc, 1 inc* 8 times (24) Row 4 - Back loop only: *2 sc, 1 inc* 8 times (32)

Row 5 - Back loop only: *3 sc, 1 inc* 8 times (40) 

Row 6 - Back loop only: 40 sc

Rows 7-9 - 12 sc, back loop only: 38 sc (3 rows)

Row 10 - 1 dec, 8 sc, 1 dec, back loop only: *8 sc, 1 dec* 2 times, 8 sc (36)

Rows 11-13 - 10 sc, back loop only: 26 sc (3 rows)

Row 14 - Back loop only: *4 sc, 1 dec* 6 times (30) Row 15 - Back loop only: *3 sc, 1 dec* 6 times (24)

Insert safety eyes between 11th and 12th rows on 6 sc distance

Row 16 - Back loop only: *2 sc, 1 dec* 6 times (18) Tightly fill with hollowfiber.

Row 17 - Back loop only: *1 sc, 1 dec* 6 times (12)

Row 18 - Back loop only: 6 dec (30)

Tie the hole. Fasten off, cut a thread, weave in ends.

NOSE

The nose is crochet in continuous rounds / spirals.

To crochet the nose take 5-Chunky (Bulky) weight chenille yarn (milky color) and

4.00 mm crochet hook

Row 1 - 6 sc in mr

Row 2 - 6 sc

Cut a thread, leave a long tail for sewing.

Insert the nose in magic ring. Add a little bit of hollowfiber.

Sew the nose to the bead between eyes. 

SPINES

The spines are crochet in spirals / continuous rounds and turning rows.

To crochet the spines take fluffy yarn (pink color) and 4.00 mm crochet hook

Attach a fluffy thread to the front loops of the top of the head and work 1 sc in spiral in each front loop

WATCH VIDEO

Work the same way until you’ll reach stitches which made in both back and front loops.

Then work in turning rows. On the bottom of the body work in spirals again.

EARS

(2 pc)

The ears are crochet in continuous rounds / spirals.

To crochet the ears take 5-Chunky (Bulky) weight chenille yarn (milky color) and

4.00 mm crochet hook

Attach yarn above ears on top of the head, as pictured below:

Work 1 ss, and 4 sc in this ss. Fasten off, cut a thread, weave in ends.

Work second ear the same way on the opposite side.

Use black floss to embroider the mouth

HANDS 
(2 pc)

The hands are crochet in continuous rounds / spirals.

To crochet the hands take 2-Fine (Sport) weight cotton blend yarn (white and turquoise colors) and 2.00 mm crochet hook

Row 1 (white) - 6 sc in mr

Rows 1-3 - 6 sc (2 rows)

Rows 4-5 (turquoise) - 6 sc (2 rows)

Rows 6-7 (white) - 6 sc (2 rows)

Rows 8-9 (turquoise) - 6 sc (2 rows)

Rows 10-11 (white) - 6 sc (2 rows) Fold the edge in a half, work 3 sc.

Fasten off, cut a thread, leave a long tail for sewing.

 

LEGS 
(2 pc)

The legs are crochet in continuous rounds / spirals.

To crochet the legs take 2-Fine (Sport) weight cotton blend yarn (white and turquoise colors) and 2.00 mm crochet hook

Row 1 (white) - 8 sc in mr

Rows 2-3 - 8 sc (2 rows)

Rows 4-5 (turquoise) - 8 sc (2 rows)

Row 6 (white) - *2 sc, 1 dec* 2 times (6)

Row 7 - 6 sc

Rows 8-9 (turquoise) - 6 sc (2 rows)

Rows 10-11 (white) - 6 sc (2 rows)

Fold the detail in a half, work 3 sc

Fasten off, cut a thread. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Sew hands and legs to the body, decorate with the button. Apply blush or dry pastel on the cheeks.
