Merino Wool Undyed Yarn - Detailed Review: Pros and Cons

Our shop now offers undyed yarn from Candy Yarn, and despite the lack of advertising, it’s already in high demand. We couldn't ignore such a fantastic product!

The yarn comes in 100-gram skeins, with a length of 200 meters. The composition is 75% merino wool and 25% polyamide.

The yarn is pleasant to the touch, silky, and has a subtle natural sheen. The thread is even throughout, of medium thickness, with a slight fuzz, and is nicely springy. It consists of 4 thin, well-twisted strands. You can buy this yarn here: https://candy-yarn.myshopify.com/products/undyed-merino-wool-yarn-natural-worsted-07605?_pos=1&_sid=e200aac65&_ss=r

Knitting Experience

This yarn knits beautifully. It doesn’t split, the stitches glide smoothly over the needles, and lay neatly into the fabric. The silky texture makes knitting an enjoyable experience.

My Tool Recommendations

For stockinette stitch, I used 3.5 mm needles. The sample came out soft, elastic, and springy—not too dense, but also not loose. I think this size is perfect for a warm jumper. If you knit more tightly, consider using a 4 mm needle.

The yarn holds ribbing well, thanks to its high wool content. I knit ribbing with 3 mm needles, and the result was stretchy and durable, easily snapping back into shape. Over time, it should maintain its properties well.
I also tried cable patterns with this yarn, again with 3.5 mm needles. The result was elastic, resilient, and showed off the texture beautifully. In short, the yarn holds up to any pattern.
For crochet, I used a 4 mm hook, and it worked perfectly for me. The yarn behaves well, doesn’t split, and looks great with various stitch types.
What Can You Knit With This Yarn?
This yarn is perfect for winter garments such as jumpers, sweaters, cardigans, jackets, dresses, and skirts. It’s also ideal for making warm and stylish accessories like hats, scarves, snoods, and gloves. It’s suitable for children's clothing, provided they don’t have wool allergies.
Care Instructions

Hand wash at 30°C, do not rub or wring, and dry flat. Iron on low heat, but I personally ironed my samples on medium heat with steam. Since this is merino wool, be careful when washing: use detergents without fabric softeners. After washing, the yarn blooms, and the finished products become even softer and more pleasant to the touch.
